Hey guys! Does anyone know the thickness in mm of the tom mounting rods for the M Birch? I have searched on this forum and on the Mapex website to no avail. If I try to measure it myself with a ruler, I can't get an accurate reading. I'm thinking about getting an add-on 16" tom (ebay) and can't afford a TS550, and can't find one on ebay for cheap. But there are other brands of double tom stands that may be compatible that are selling for like $40 or so. I am a hobbyist and can't afford much. :(

Also, I know that Mapex has the hex type rod so I may have to go with a slightly smaller rod to make it fit. And forget about taking the tom into a drum shop around here to test rod sizes. They don't have much in this area!

Thanks for you help and advice.

if you mean the tube holder into the kick drum, it's 25mm.

the "L" arms, i have no idea. even the parts catalogs don't have a diameter listed.

Actually I do mean the L arms. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks for the response, though. :)

We just had someone post these sizes and I can't find it. I would call Jeremy at the MapexSuperStore and ask him, or pm him. He knows this stuff like the back of his hand. Nice to hear from you again DrumnDad

I just went through this, nothing from the other manufacturers work. I went to Jeremy and he sent me one out. You only need the hex L with the ball on the end, It will work with all the other manufacturers mounts.

I may just bite the bullet and get the Mapex stand, even though it's $100. I really like having a Mapex stand hold my precious Mapex drums!
Thanks for the replies and kind words.

DrumnDad, I bought this clamp from GC, removed the L w/ball, got the Mapex hex L from the Superstore and swaped it. It's holding my 8" but will hold a larger tom with no problem.

The hex is 10mm (.393") across the flats.

Go to www.gibratlarhardware.com

They have a pdf on the site that is an "All Brands Cross Reference" chart. It will tell you the exact L-arm diameter. Gibraltar makes ones that work with Mapex hardware.

I'd look it up for you but I'm at work and they have that site (but not this one oddly enough) blocked.
