Meridian Maple vs Saturn

The Saturn will come with an additionnal $200 bucks (roughly) of Remo heads, wich should also be accounted for.
If you have the money to buy the Saturn, I would say go for the higher quality drum. But as other stated, make sure you save money to buy decent cymbals.

I listened back and forth several times myself. Since they appeared to be at the same show and I saw Shure mics in both vids, let's assume the miking is the same. Another known diff is that the Meridians come with UT Pinstripe heads, while the Sats have Emps on them. That alone could account for slightly more sustain from the Sats. However, I do think I heard a low bark from the Sat floor toms that was missing from the Meridians. Subtle, though.

That's the "balls" factor. :D As Gord the Drummer stated in another post, Saturns have 'em, Meridians, while great drums, not so much.

I was informed by the sales guy at the local store that he was told by Mapex that there will be no change in the Saturn's tom mounting ITS system for the next 3 years. There only change will be an upgrade of the current kick pedal.

I own a set of Orions myself, and the thought of buying a set of Meridian ITS mounts, and installing them myself had crossed my mind……..Many have screamed blasphemy at the idea, but I've never been one to care about what others think. ;)

Ok, I think I'll stick with Saturn after all. Now the colour. Do you think the electric berry burst is a "girly" colour for a 40 years old guy? The wife likes that finish and is recommending that I should get it. What about the new artic white? I like colour myself but I need that will stand out on dark lited stages. any recommendation?
