A few pictures of my "new" Mapex Orion Classic series drum kit. The set is probably from the year 2002. Not sure about the color but who cares 'couse the set sounds outrageously good. The set was previously in a studio.
Edit: I think the color looks like brownish amber and could be a variant of transparent walnut as Giuli suggested. The tom and bass drum shells are six layers of rock maple. The shell insides are smooth and coated. The tom shells are five millimeters thin. This set can be tuned from low to high. The bearing edges are superb ( I'll never look at a SQ2 kit again ). On toms I have Evans g2 coated heads on batter side and clear Remo Ambassadors on reso side. On bass drum I have a Aquarian SK2 on batter side and a Remo PS3 as a resonant head. The snare drum surprised me positively. I simply love it. The snare batter head is a Evans g1 coated and the snare side head is a Remo Ambassador. All the hoops and chrome parts are like new. The gold plating on the snare batter hoop is of course worn. Unlike in these pictures I only use Mapex 900 series hardware with this kit. The double pedal is a DW5000. I play Sabian cymbals but my main ride is a 22" Ufip.
